中新社香港五月十九日电(记者陈国华)十九日，李嘉诚致函中央政府驻港联络办公室主任高祀仁，再以李嘉诚基金会、长江集团、和记黄埔集团的名义捐款一亿元人民币，用于为灾区学生设立特别教育基金。

加上此前李嘉诚教育基金捐出的三千万元人民币，李嘉诚捐款已达一亿三千万元人民币。

李嘉诚在信件中称，自四川省发生重大震灾以来，本人每日密切关注灾情发展，并于灾后立即以基金名义认捐三千万元人民币(未计集团名下其他公司之捐款)，冀能尽一分之力。从过去一个星期以来报道所见，灾区同胞情况之惨重，感同身受，不禁怆然。现再以基金会名义捐款四千万元、长江集团及和记黄埔集团各三千万元，合共一亿元人民币，捐款将获教育部配套，用于为区内受灾学生(包括大、中、小学)设立特别教育基金，使获得资助生活费及学费以作日后继续升学之用。(完)
